Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of the Telecommunications and Post Regulatory Authority is the highest regulatory authority. It is established by a decision of the Council of Ministers based on a recommendation from the competent minister. The board includes a non-executive chairperson and ten members from relevant sectors, who bring expertise and specialization in telecommunications or postal services. The Director-General of the Authority serves as a member and rapporteur. The board is responsible for setting the general policy of the Authority, overseeing its operations, and ensuring its objectives, functions, and authorities as stipulated in the Communications and Postal Regulation Act of 2018.

Powers and Responsibilities of the Board:

Approving plans necessary to enhance and develop telecommunications and post services.
Approving costing and pricing frameworks for telecommunications and post services.
Issuing licenses to operate in various telecommunications and post fields.
Recommending to the competent minister the organizational and staffing structure of the Authority, as well as employment conditions, in accordance with relevant laws and established procedures.
Approving contracts and agreements on behalf of the Authority, as per applicable laws.
Adopting the annual budget proposal for the Authority and submitting it to the relevant authorities for endorsement.
Establishing technical committees to assist in the exercise of its powers and duties.
Resolving complaints within the telecommunications and post sectors filed by licensees against decisions of the Authority, as per the applicable laws and regulations.
Setting guidelines and regulations for external participation and overseas training, in line with existing regulations.
Issuing internal rules to govern its meetings and operations.
Any additional powers or duties necessary to achieve the objectives of the Authority.
