Director General’s Message

The exceptional situation the country is currently experiencing presents a challenge in the telecommunications sector, specifically in ensuring the continued provision of telecommunications and postal services in areas affected by war and conflict. There is also a focus on improving telecommunications and postal services across the entire country, despite the massive destruction of infrastructure in the sector. This is being addressed by implementing strategic programs aimed at mitigating threats, restoring and protecting data and information, and designing and implementing secure network infrastructure, as well as rehabilitating damaged infrastructure. Additionally, there is an emphasis on creating a strategic framework for cooperation at the regional and international levels to achieve sustainable development

The role of the Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority, which aims to create and develop an open regulatory environment and expand the sector to enhance competitiveness and provide advanced telecommunications services as a direct result of competition, was notably marked by the issuance of the Telecommunications and Postal Regulation Law of 2018.

This law was a significant milestone in establishing regulatory legislation, policies, regulations, and frameworks governing the work in the fields of telecommunications and postal services in Sudan. The implementation of many projects has strengthened the legal framework in the sector, ensuring the sustainability of progress and keeping pace with the rapid global developments in knowledge and digital transformation, armed with the principles of transparency, equality, and free competition, as clearly reflected in the vision and mission of the Authority.

These projects targeted enhancing understanding and awareness of the technical requirements in various fields, from improving networks to postal addressing, the Internet of Things, digital transformation, numbering, and environmental sustainability, while emphasizing adherence to health and environmental standards in the technologies applied. The market is monitored to ensure the application of fair competition standards to protect consumer rights.

Thus, the Authority, through its commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities in regulating telecommunications and postal services of all kinds and ensuring their efficient delivery to users to achieve optimal sector performance, continues to exert more efforts in accordance with the Telecommunications and Postal Law. As the Authority has accustomed you to being a leader and pioneer in applying all that is new in the field of technology and contributing to supporting national projects to localize work in information and communication technology and digital transformation, armed with the distinguished cadres within the Authority. These individuals perform their duties efficiently and effectively, each according to their field and specialization, drawing from the expertise of the esteemed directors who have successively managed the Authority. We ask Almighty God to accept their efforts in elevating this nation, aspiring to further achievements.

In conclusion, we ask Almighty God to grant victory to our country in this war, to bring security and peace throughout its regions, and to crown the efforts being made with success so that we may enjoy a knowledge-based society served by the latest communication and information systems in a fair and advanced competitive environment.

May Allah grant us success
