Extension of MTN ‘s License

On December 8, 2024, an agreement was signed to extend MTN’s license for an additional two years, ending on April 4, 2027. The agreement maintains the same terms and obligations of the 2006 license agreement and its annexes, following the company’s request for an extension under the current license scope to avoid any potential issues.
The decision to extend the license was made as a temporary solution during the current phase, with the financial value of the extension period being calculated. The extension also aims to prepare for license renewal after the extension ends, with clear plans to attract investments from the company’s parent group. Negotiations for the license renewal are expected to begin again during the current year, 2025.
This decision was influenced by the current circumstances the country is experiencing, which have hindered the continuation of discussions and negotiations regarding the renewal. The decision was confirmed through deliberations by various committees.
The original license term for MTN was set to expire on April 5, 2025, as per the license agreement signed in 2003, which was extended in 2006 for twenty years, starting from April 2005.
