The Telecommunications and Post Regulatory Authority is responsible for regulating the postal sector in the country, in accordance with the Telecommunications and Post (Organization) Act 2018, with the aim of providing effective and reliable postal services that meet the needs of the community and contribute to enhancing Telecommunications.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Regulating and developing postal services in the country.
  • Ensuring the availability of basic postal services throughout the country.
  • Developing human capacities, raising awareness, and enhancing trust in the postal sector.
  • Strengthening Sudan’s role in the postal sector at both the regional and international levels.
  • Ensuring that postal services reach all areas of urban expansion and economic activity, as well as urban, rural, and remote areas throughout Sudan.
  • Establishing guidelines, plans, programs, and systems for providing postal services.
  • Setting conditions and foundations for licensing postal activities.
  • Issuing licenses to qualified entities in accordance with specified conditions.
  • Establishing mechanisms and controls for determining postal service tariffs.
  • Establishing a postal addressing system and managing and regulating it.
  • Conducting studies and analyses on the performance of the postal sector.
  • Establishing standards and indicators for measuring the quality of postal services.
  • Developing plans and methods for oversight and inspection of licensees.
  • Ensuring the protection and confidentiality of postal services.
  • Taking necessary measures and actions to limit anti-competitive behavior by licensees in accordance with regulations.
  • Approving designs and specifications for postage stamps and consenting to their issuance.
