Sudan Signs Agreement Establishing World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization as a Founding Member State – Beijing

The Republic of the Sudan signed today, Friday, the agreement establishing the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO), becoming one of the founding member states of this international organization, which was officially announced on July 17.
Representing Sudan at the signing ceremony, held at the headquarters of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, was H.E. Ambassador Omar Issa Ahmed, Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan to the People’s Republic of China, who signed the organization’s founding document on behalf of the Government of Sudan.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Mr. Liu Bin, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China. In this round, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Iran, and Togo also joined the founding states, bringing the total number of the organization’s founding member countries to 35.
In his speech during the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Omar Issa Ahmed expressed Sudan’s appreciation to the People’s Republic of China for its initiative to establish the first international organization specialized in fostering global cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence. He affirmed Sudan’s readiness to work alongside China and other member states to enhance cooperation, exchange expertise and knowledge, benefit from training and capacity-building opportunities, and support scientific research and technological development. This cooperation aims to build equitable and sustainable partnerships and bolster development efforts, particularly among Global South countries.
