The National Multi-Stakeholder Workshop for the adoption of the National Emergency Telecommunications Plan (NETP)

The Telecommunications and Post Regulatory Authority (TPRA) organized the National Multi-Stakeholder Workshop for the adoption of the National Emergency Telecommunications Plan (NETP) and the Cell Broadcast Early Warning System (CB-EWS). The two-day event took place at the Al Salam Rotana Hotel in Khartoum, in the presence of the Minister of Interior, representing the Prime Minister, and with broad participation from ministers, senior officials, and key partners.
In his opening remarks, the General Director of the Telecommunications and Post Regulatory Authority welcomed the attendees, emphasizing that hosting this workshop reflects the Authority’s commitment to strengthening national efforts aimed at enhancing the telecom sector’s readiness to handle crises. He added that the initiative seeks to complete strategic frameworks that ensure the continuity of vital services and provide advanced early warning systems to safeguard lives and property.
For his part, Eng. Ahmed Dirdiri Ghandour, Minister of Digital Transformation and Telecommunications, highlighted during his address that preserving citizens’ lives and ensuring the continuity of state institutions during challenging times underscored the vital role of the telecommunications sector, particularly throughout the war. He noted that experience has proven that building a “resilient” telecommunications sector has become an urgent necessity, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating with public and private sector partners to deliver the highest quality services. Minister Ghandour added: “We aim to build a network that reaches citizens wherever they are, and the success of this plan will serve as one of the most effective practical solutions for Sudan to keep pace with global developments.
