The Sudan Computer Emergency Response Team (Sudan-CERT) concluded yesterday, Thursday, a specialized training workshop in Port Sudan. This workshop, the second of its kind this year, aimed to enhance the efficiency of cybercrime prosecutors and police forces as part of national efforts to strengthen cybersecurity and combat evolving digital crimes.

The workshop was held at the headquarters of the Telecommunications and Post Regulatory Authority (TPRA) in the Red Sea State, under the patronage of the Director General of the TPRA, Consulting Engineer Dr. Elsadig Gamal El-Deen, and with the direct support and supervision of the Attorney General, Maulana Intisar Ahmed Abdelaal.

The workshop activities commenced last Sunday (December 15) and were opened by the General Counselor, Maulana Hamad El-Nil Abdel Baqi El-Bashir, the Legal Advisor to the Authority. In his opening remarks, Maulana Hamad El-Nil emphasized the state’s commitment to a comprehensive digital transformation, stressing the necessity of integrating cybersecurity requirements in the early stages of this process to ensure a secure digital environment.

Over the course of five days, the workshop featured intensive training sessions and practical applications presented by experts from “Sudan-CERT.” The sessions covered modern cybersecurity concepts, best security practices, digital space challenges, and mitigation strategies. It also highlighted the vital roles played by Sudan-CERT in protecting the state’s information infrastructure.

This initiative reflects the state’s belief in the importance of continuous training and national capacity building to bridge the technical gap. It ensures that law enforcement agencies are fully prepared to deal with increasing digital challenges, ultimately achieving Sudanese cyber excellence at both regional and international levels.
