Prime Minister: Telecommunications and Digital Transformation Are Pillars of Modern State-Building

His Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Kamal Idris has reaffirmed the strategic importance of developing Sudan’s telecommunications infrastructure as a cornerstone of sustainable development and modern state-building. He emphasized that the Council of Ministers attaches great importance to the digital transformation agenda, recognizing its pivotal role in improving institutional performance and public service delivery.

This came during his meeting today in Port Sudan with Dr. Elsadig Gamaleldeen Elsadg, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications and Digital Transformation. The meeting addressed the current situation of the sector and the challenges it faces, particularly in light of the deliberate destruction of infrastructure by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia..

In a press statement, Dr. ELsadig noted that the Prime Minister directed special attention to expanding fiber optic networks, especially for use in education, as well as fostering artificial intelligence, advancing 5G networks, and improving postal services. He affirmed the Prime Minister’s strong support for digital transformation efforts.

Dr. ELSadig concluded by saying that these directives will have a positive impact on the sector and will help lay the groundwork for a comprehensive digital transition and a robust digital economy.
